In 1996, Joanne Hickman Dodd and Carla Straeten established a loosely knit group of about 15 women who worked in the institutional investing business. Early members found that these relationships were extremely helpful. By sharing
ideas, insights and connections, they were able to expand their networks and make valuable connections that helped them succeed in a male-dominated industry.
Today, WIP is made up of more than 400 members from across the investment industry. We remain self-managed and are a funded by a growing list of sponsor firms. Our board and committees are made up of volunteers from among WIP membership.
In addition to members-only activities and benefits, we offer a number of annual events that are open to non-members, and maintain a quarterly newsletter and social media presence.
