Women Investment Professionals’ Renewed Commitment to Equality and Inclusion

As an organization whose core mission is centered on diversity and inclusion, Women Investment Professionals stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We believe that black lives matter and oppose all forms of racism and social injustice.

Our Commitment

Like many of you, the WIP leadership team feels that only recently have our eyes been truly opened to the deep-seated, systemic discrimination in our society. We have heard the calls for racial justice and social reform, and we want to be part of the solution.

We have always worked to increase diversity. Our Outreach Committee regularly selects partner organizations that support women in our communities. In early 2020, we began a partnership with “Invest in Girls,” an organization that supports financial literacy and promotes careers in finance to high school girls. We have come to feel that efforts focused exclusively on gender diversity are not enough to combat the extreme homogeneity of the financial services industry.

For that reason, we are committing to partner with a local school whose demographics are predominantly black for the first implementation of the “Invest in Girls” curriculum. We recognize that real change does not happen overnight; we are committed to maintaining this partnership with the school for years to come, as well as empowering and educating women of all races starting at a young age. As such, starting with the 2020-2021 school year, we will be actively seeking volunteers to participate in implementing the “Invest in Girls” curriculum in a Chicago school.
