The financial markets are being buffeted by ever-changing economic and political news at a time when long-term demographics are changing the demand mix for financial securities and corporate financing sources are shifting. Helping investors navigate these sometimes cyclonic and seemingly unpredictable winds makes investment knowledge and perspective an even more important skill-set. Join us as we delve into the dynamics affecting the various types of securities and strategies that make up institutional investor portfolios when we bring together experts in the field to discuss their views on the near and longer term implications of current events as well as longer-term trends.
Debt – Public vs. Private
In our second session public and private debt will take center stage. As the traditional debt financing provided by commercial banks has dried up, private debt/direct lending funds have been the rage. But now with mountains of dry powder sitting in these private investment vehicles and the increase in demand for long dated bonds by DB plans looking to immunize their liabilities, will private debt be able to deliver the strong returns investors expect? Are the maturities of private debt long enough to meet DB plan needs or will the political pressure and demand for liquid long bonds cause banks to start lending and companies to return to the public markets?
