The financial markets are being buffeted by ever-changing economic and political news at a time when long-term demographics are changing the demand mix for financial securities and corporate financing sources are shifting. Helping investors navigate these sometimes cyclonic and seemingly unpredictable winds makes investment knowledge and perspective an even more important skill-set. Join us as we delve into the dynamics affecting the various types of securities and strategies that make up institutional investor portfolios when we bring together experts in the field to discuss their views on the near and longer term implications of current events as well as longer-term trends.
Equities – Public vs. Private
In our first session we’ll explore a variety of trends in the equity markets both public and private. Today companies are waiting longer to go public causing a reduction in the number of companies available for a small cap strategy to invest while providing a longer runway for private equity and venture cap. The opening up of China onshore markets dramatically changes the opportunity presented by “emerging markets”. US equity valuations are high and the synchronicity of stock moves is starting to disintegrate – has passive management run its course?
