(CHICAGO, IL – September 24, 2020)Women Investment Professionals (WIP), a leading not-for-profit organization for professional women in the institutional investment management industry, announced it will be awarding its prestigious “Distinguished Woman Investment Professional of the Year” award to Angela Miller-May, Chief Investment Officer, Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund. The award will be presented virtually at WIP’s Annual Trailblazer Event on October 22, 2020, with a future celebratory reception to be held in 2021.
The “Distinguished Woman Investment Professional” award seeks to recognize a leading figure for her contributions and achievements in the institutional investment management industry. Nominations for the award recipient are put forth by WIP members and ultimately selected by the WIP Board of Directors. “Angela is an active WIP member and a trailblazer who is going above and beyond to change the investment management industry. She is a leading voice when it comes to promoting diversity and inclusion in our investment community,” said Susan Small, President of Women Investment Professionals.
Angela Miller-May is the Chief Investment Officer for the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund. She focuses on providing strategic portfolio construction, manager selection, and rigorous due diligence and leadership in meeting CTPF’s investment goals. Ms. Miller-May joined the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund in 2010.Prior to serving as the CIO, she acted in several progressively responsible positions at CTPF, including Director of Investments, Portfolio Manager-Alternatives and Investment Operations Analyst-Risk Management. In these roles, she was responsible for many aspects of investment management.
Ms. Miller-May serves as a member of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP), Africa Institutional Investors Advisory Council, and the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) CIO Summit Advisory Faculty.
Ms. Miller-May is a frequent speaker at industry events and can be seen on CNBC or quoted in The Wall Street Journal and other financial publications.
Ms. Miller-May earned her M.B.A in Accounting from DePaul University and her B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.
